Business Mediation - Shareholder conflict

Facilitated four shareholders to resolve a long standing dispute which threatened the viability of this fifty person company. Lawyers were already engaged in the process of having two shareholders relinquish their shares. A third shareholder was unsure as to whether he would leave. One of the lawyers involved suggested engaging a consultant to try and resolve the issues. Personal consultations were conducted, followed by a facilitated session. The result was that one shareholder left the company but worked out an arrangement to continue conducting business together. The remaining shareholders are re-energized on expanding the business.

Mediation / Facilitation

For a National Not-for-Profit association experiencing an impasse on a decision to be made by board members and professional staff. Interacted with staff and board members to enable them to voice their opinions. Without coercion, each stakeholder changed their position and the group came to a focal point; the final choice was not on the radar screen of any of the participants. This decision resulted in a highly successful technology deployment.

Management Consultant

For the operating unit of a large Canadian financial institution with over 5,000 employees. This newly formed business was experiencing significant growing pains at the executive management level. Examples of this included a disagreement between the COO and the SVP Sales, as to the root cause of a poor customer satisfaction rating, reluctance on the part of the management team members to speak up at meetings and name calling at leadership meetings. Coached individuals on the management team by helping them understand the impact to the business. Conducted as a personal consultant with the executive team to begin the management change process. The end result was the application of critical thinking skills in day-to-day operations allowing for a more productive business environment.

Management Consultant/Facilitator

for a start up software company which was building an innovative solution to manage compensation data over the Internet. There was a consortium of businesses and individuals involved in building this solution, each with their own approach and agenda. The project was going in crisis and there was extensive finger-pointing and blaming. Acted as the catalyst to bring the team to consensus on a winning move forward approach.

Risk Specialist - Outsourcing

Engaged to develop a move forward plan to rescue a $15 million IT project for a provincial government in Western Canada. A leading outsourcer was running the project. Conducted stakeholder interviews at the project management and executive levels to uncover key business issues and problem areas. Redeveloped and delivered a highly focused but tough actionable move forward plan.

Management Consultant - Outsourcing Operations Review

Conducted an Operations Review of the delivery of a $300 million outsourcing agreement which included large complex projects and infrastructure outsourcing. As a third party, the mandate was to assess the outsourcing delivery team and meet with outsourcing client's staff. Presentation to the outsourcing client executive committee resulted in the creation of a communications channel between the outsourcer and the outsourcing client.
